The manufacturer claims that SmartBurn is the first patent-pending advanced weight-loss supplement for women that also helps manage stress. It helps burn fat and control appetite while increasing relaxation to manage stress. They claim a 450% weight loss comparing to a convention diet and exercise plan.

Hoodia, the primary ingredient, is a South African cactus plant that inhibits appetite. Its properties were first discovered in the mid 1960s, but weight loss products that use it have only appeared recently.

But there were indications of unwanted effects on the liver caused by other components, which could not be easily removed from the supplement. Clearly, hoodia has a long way to go before it can earn approval from the Food and Drug Administration. Until safer formulations are developed, dieters should be wary of using it."
